Ferenc Mate "The Hills of Tuscany." Podcast: Journeys Interview Segment 1 of 4

Ferenc Mate "The Hills of Tuscany." Podcast: Journeys Interview Segment 1 of 4

This is a get away from it all interview from the Dick Staub Show archives. Publishers Weekly says, "In this lighthearted memoir, Ferenc Mate recalls the early years he and his artist wife, Candace, spent in Tuscany. The two were certain on their initial visit in 1987 that they wanted to relocate to Italy and buy a home in the Tuscan hills, but it took them a year to return and begin house hunting. Mate provides an amusing account of their quest, which was made even more difficult by a lack of facility in the Italian language."

Mike Yaconelli: Messy Spirituality. Podcast: Journeys Interview Segment 4 of 4

Mike Yaconelli "colored outside the lines his whole life." He was one of the founders of The Wittenburg Door. He was also co-founder of Youth Specialties, which has had a tremendous impact on how we understand and help teens in this culture. By his own confession he was the pastor of "the slowest growing church in America." He was also an advocate of what he calls "messy spirituality" and wrote a book by the same title: Messy Spirituality: God's Annoying Love for Imperfect People. I talked with Mike about this book in 2002 and he was tragically killed in an accident in his truck in 2003.

In 1967, as a new follower of Jesus, I sat in San Francisco's Fillmore West between two guys who were smoking marijuana, listening to Jefferson Airplane, way before the trendy bracelet told me to, I asked myself, "What would Jesus do?" 55

This talk, recently delivered at International Arts Movement's conference, with additional images are available at www.makotofujimura.blogspot.com "Little Lamb, I'll tell thee, Little Lamb, I'll tell thee, He is called by thy name, For he calls himself a Lamb." Songs of Innocence, The Lamb, William Blake. "Tyger! Tyger! Burning bright In the forests of the night, What immortal hand or eye Could frame they fearful symmetry?" Songs of Experience, The Tyger, William Blake

1. Inviting Monsters into our Hearts. A child uses all of her senses to discover the world. She picks up and finds fascination with a dandelion, feels the bumpy bark of a tree, tastes the baseball, smells the fallen leaf. If you asked a room full of kindergarteners, "Raise your hand if you are an artist!ť"Almost every child would raise his hand. 55

Guest Blog: ALISTER McGRATH. "Do stop behaving as if you are God, Professor Dawkins."

(Over the next few days we'll feature podcasts about faith and science. This week's The Kindlings Muse @ Hales features a spirited discussion by Adrian Wyard and John West about the new atheists–Richard Dawkins, Sam Harris, and Daniel Dennett. We'll also carry an interview with Randy Olson whose Flock of Dodos is a humorous, insightful and controversial exploration of the contemporary controversy over evolution, intelligent design and how science is being taught in our schools.' Today comments by Oxford Professor Alistair McGrath about Dawkin's "God Delusion.") He is a 'psychotic delinquent', invented by mad, deluded people. 55
